Prior to his government service, he spent 16 years in commercial banking, including five years as president of the Florida National Bank of Lee County. Senator Mack was founding chairman of the board of The Cape Coral Hospital, leading the creation of a 100-bed, non-profit community-based hospital. He is chairman emeritus of the parent board of the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute, for which he served as chairman for seven years. He is also a director of Mutual of America Life Insurance Co., Darden Restaurants, EXACT Sciences Corporation and Moody’s Corp.
Genzyme operates in a highly regulated environment, and government health care policies have a significant impact on our business. Senator Mack brings extensive public policy and government relations expertise to the board, as well as a personal passion for the need for the development of innovative therapies for patients.
Senator Mack earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida.
