He has also served as chair of pediatric oncology at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and as the Margaret M. Dyson Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Burakoff has served as a director of the publicly traded biopharmaceutical companies Ligand Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Pharmacopeia.
Dr. Burakoff was the recipient of the first Harvard Medical School Excellence in Mentoring Award. He was also the Ted Williams Senior Investigator at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Burakoff is a member of the external advisory committees of a number of cancer centers. Dr. Burakoff has received the American Association of Immunologists Lifetime Achievement Award and the Lillian and Henry M. Stratton Professor of Cancer Medicine endowed professorship from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
Dr. Burakoff is a highly accomplished cancer researcher and brings to the board extensive medical expertise.
Dr. Burakoff received his B.S. from Lehigh University, his master’s from Queens College, and his M.D. from Albany Medical College.
