C. Ann Merrifield Senior Vice President, Business Excellence Initiative Ann Merrifield joined Genzyme in 1992. She serves as Senior Vice President of the Genzyme Business Excellence Initiative (BEI). BEI is a strategic evaluation capability supporting the corporation in preparing Genzyme’s organization for the next phase of innovation and sustainable growth. Ms. Merrifield has also served as president of Genzyme Genetics and president of Genzyme Biosurgery. Prior to joining Genzyme in 1992, she was a partner at Bain and Company and an investment analyst for Aetna Life and Casualty. Ms. Merrifield has an M.B.A. from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College and a B.A. and M.Ed. from the University of Maine.
