John McPherson, Ph.D. Senior Vice President, Head of Biologics Research and Development John McPherson joined Genzyme in 1989. He directs scientific research programs focused on development and commercialization of cell and protein-based therapeutic products. Before he came to Genzyme, Dr. McPherson was director of protein chemistry at Integrated Genetics. He also worked for Collagen Corporation, and was research project leader for their soft tissue wound healing program. Dr. McPherson had a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He has a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of California, Davis. He also has a M.A. from the University of California, Davis and a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.
