Recruiting People from Diverse Backgrounds

Genzyme’s success as a leading global biotechnology company can be attributed to the diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and skills of our global workforce. We respect and value individual contributions, creative thinking, and teamwork. These beliefs are the engine of our culture and fuel our dedication to serving patients around the globe.

Recruitment is our investment in the future, and we are committed to attracting talented people from a broad range of communities throughout the world. To continue to meet our business objectives, we seek qualified professionals with diverse skills, perspectives, cultural backgrounds, and experiences.

Our approach to recruitment is a direct extension of our core business and the diversity of our patient population. Every year, Genzyme recruits students from a number of major universities, attracting innovative and creative thought leaders who share our passion for serving patients. In addition, we offer internal transfers and mobility through career opportunities that enable individuals to bring their unique perspectives and approaches to our global teams.

Examples of programs we offer include:

Genzyme's College Relations Program

As an active sponsor and participant in the Biomedical Science Careers Program, Genzyme provides mentoring, internships, and educational scholarship awards to outstanding BSCP minority students from high school through postdoctoral levels.

Diversity Recruitment Efforts

Our recruitment and retention programs are designed to attract, hire, and retain qualified professionals worldwide who bring them diverse skills, perspectives and experiences. Genzyme conducts broad searches to find the most talented professionals via professional associations, internet website postings, employee referrals, career fairs, community relations, temporary/contract assignments, newspaper advertisements and trade journal postings. "I chose to pursue career opportunities at Genzyme as an MBA intern and after graduation because the company makes a difference in patient lives around the world. Genzyme gave me a unique opportunity to work with a team of dedicated individuals while using my manufacturing experience and newly acquired MBA skills."
