Basic Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance

Genzyme provides eligible employees with company-paid basic life insurance coverage equal to two times their annual base salary, and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance coverage equal to two times their base annual salary (this may vary for sales representatives), up to a combined maximum of $1,000,000.

Supplemental Employee Life Insurance

While the company-paid basic life and AD&D insurance coverage provides valuable benefits, we recognize that there may be a need to purchase additional coverage. Employees may purchase supplemental life insurance coverage in amounts equal to one, two, three, or four times their base annual salary. The maximum benefit for this coverage is $500,000.

Dependent Life Insurance

Genzyme also provides dependent life insurance coverage in an amount equal to $10,000 for spouses and $5,000 for each eligible dependent, at no cost to the employee.

Supplemental Dependent Life Insurance

Employees may purchase supplemental dependent life insurance coverage in an amount equal to $10,000 for their spouse and $5,000 for each dependent child. Employees pay 100 percent of the cost for this coverage with post-tax dollars, through convenient payroll deduction. The premium is a flat rate, and covers both spouse and/or any number of eligible children.

Business Travel Insurance

Genzyme provides you with business travel accident insurance coverage equal to four times your base annual salary. The minimum amount of coverage you will receive is $250,000 and the maximum is $1 million. This benefit covers you when you are traveling on company business. Genzyme pays 100 percent of the cost for this coverage.
