Accomplishments
Genzyme has achieved significant recognition for its commitment to the environment. Our corporate headquarters, Genzyme Center, has received numerous awards for its green design, including Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, and honors from the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Association of General Contractors, Architectural Review, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the North East Sustainable Energy Association, and the Environmental Business Council of New England.
In 2005, our Haverhill, U.K. manufacturing site received a Green Apple award from The Green Organization, which recognizes environmental best practices around the world. The honor was for the site’s recycling initiative, which reduced waste going to landfills by 10 tons.

Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations
In 2007, Genzyme was named one of the "Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in World" by Innovest Strategic Value Advisors. The Global 100 is an annual list of companies that most effectively manage environmental, social and corporate governance risks and opportunities. The firms on the list are chosen from the more than 1,800 publicly traded companies on the MSCI World Index.
