Employee Involvement

The entrepreneurial spirit that is central to Genzyme’s culture is also central to its employee involvement efforts. Whether it is by sharing their love of reading with children, creating an exhibit at a science museum, or raising funds for charity, Genzyme employees are making a difference in communities around the globe.

Genzyme Invests in Volunteer Efforts (G.I.V.E.)

Our employee involvement takes many forms. Teams of employees around the world lead and coordinate volunteer activities with non-profit organizations. Through an employee-directed volunteer funding program, G.I.V.E., Genzyme encourages and supports employees who volunteer time, talent and raise funds on behalf of important causes in their communities.

G.I.V.E is a global program that provides grants between $1,000 and $10,000 to non-profit organizations with which Genzyme employees volunteer. First established in Massachusetts in 2000, the program has grown throughout the U.S. and is now expanding to Genzyme sites around the globe.

The philosophy of G.I.V.E. is to recognize employee generosity and teamwork worldwide; to support team efforts in volunteerism and fundraising for charitable organizations that address the issues most important to our employees; and to create long-term, sustainable connections to those charitable organizations where our employees are engaged.

Scientists in the Schools (SiS)

Scientists in the Schools is a volunteer program aimed at building and enhancing relationships between Genzyme employees and local schools. Genzyme volunteers register for the program to offer their expertise to schools and charitable organizations that serve students. They are eager to share their knowledge and increase awareness of Biotechnology in local schools. Volunteer opportunities range from mentoring a student or teacher to serving as a science fair judge to speaking at a career day.

Do you have an opportunity for one of our Scientists? Please submit the Volunteer Opportunities Posting Request. If a volunteer is available that meets your needs, we will contact you.
