Rare Disease Social Responsibility Award in Spain
Genzyme was recognized by the Ministry and the Spanish Federation for Rare Diseases (FEDER) for its commitment to raising awareness for the more than 3 million people living with a rare disease in Spain. This award marks the first time that a pharmaceutical company has been acknowledged by FEDER for their corporate social responsibility.
Top 10 Best Large Workplace in Ireland Award
In 2013, Genzyme was named one of Ireland’s top 10 best large workplaces by Great Place to Work Ireland. In addition, Pat O’Sullivan, General Manager of Genzyme’s Waterford site, was named among the top four most trusted business leaders in Ireland. Both awards were given based on the high level of trust indicated by employees who work at the site. The Great Place to Work listings are generally recognized as Ireland’s most comprehensive study of workplace culture.
Top 10 Female Executive in Brazil
Eliana Tameirao, General Manager of Genzyme’s operations in Brazil, was named one of the top 10 female executives in Brazil by Valor Economico, a leading business and economics newspaper. Executives were chosen based on criteria such as time in their position, level of management complexity, financial performance, level of innovation, diversity of staff, and company reputation. Eliana joined Genzyme in 1998 and has worked as the general manager of Brazil since 2009.
EURORDIS Company Award
In 2013, Genzyme was honored for pioneering the development and delivery of therapies for rare diseases, its longstanding support of patient organizations, including EURORDIS, as well as initiatives to increase patient access to Genzyme treatments. EURORDIS Award recipients are selected by the EURORDIS Board of Directors, from over 100 nominations received from EURORDIS members (rare disease patient advocacy groups from all Europe), volunteers and staff, with the aim of promoting leadership and excellence for people living with rare diseases.
Industry Person of the Year Award
In 2013, Genzyme’s Head of Rare Diseases, Rogerio Vivaldi, MD, has been honored as the Genetic Disease Foundation’s Industry Person of the Year. The award is given to an individual in the life sciences industry who has made outstanding contributions to advancing medical research and bringing new therapies to people living with rare genetic diseases.
